I ordered this back in October with a promised ship date of 11/09. I called middle of Nov and was promised shipment within week. Now it is 12/12 and still nothing. This was a birthday present for my husband and I feel so bad that he is still waiting. I was so excited to get him something he could use and enjoy. But....

Stupid rating because she didn't receive the atlas in a timely manner. Great atlas. 1:1 scale from map to sky. Can use many tools to help with star-hopping for this scale if anyone is still doing this. A good black ink pen(nzot sharpie) can be used to connect constellations. Would recommend this atlas highly. Help me win several star-hopping events and earn my master observers certification.

There was only one review for this product and it was negative, especially concerning the availability of the product. I ordered this on 3/9/2012 and received it 3/17/2012...8 days, 5 stars for that.
I am new to astronomy and telescope observing. My first sky atlas was the Pocket Sky Atlas. This atlas is much larger and contains more detail. I especially like the laminated pages as they will not get damp in dewing conditions. Actually, it was the laminated pages that made me decide to purchase this product. I had used the pocket version on a few occasions the the pages got damp due to high humidity and dew.
Also, the lamination allows you to make notes (sharpie, dry erase, grease pencil etc) directly on the pages and then wipe them clean without ruining the underlying paper.
The only negative might be the size. This would be an item that is more suited for observatory/home use than in the field.
One area for improvement might be to make the pages removable. The user could easily do this by removing the spiral binder.
